The 10 largest companies by market cap.:

Company Mkt.Cap. Earnings P/E
(B$) (B$)
------------------------------
GE 502 11.1 45
INTC 393 8.3 48
CSCO 382 2.7 140
MSFT 345 9.1 38
XOM 288 9.4 31
WMT 253 5.8 44
NOK 222 3.0 75
C 207 10.5 20
IBM 194 7.6 26
ORCL 182 1.4 133
-----------------------------
6 companies on NYSE:
1666 47.4 35
-----------------------------
4 companies on Nasdaq:
1302 21.5 60
-----------------------------
Grand Total:
2968 68.9 43
-----------------------------

I put this table together because I've been wondering how
far the decline can go over the next couple months. Now
that the uptrend is broken and the market is technically
weak, where does fundamental support come in? As I
understand it, the P/E ratios above are approximately double
recent norms (i.e. for the 1990s before the last 2 years
blow-off). By the way, I think this table shows that
hi-tech makes or breaks the whole market.
