Looks like the economy is slowing down faster than I expected. Talked to a good friend of ours today who is a Realtor and Secretary of the Washington Association of Realtors and says that in the last month the real estate market in western Washington has really slowed down especially in the higher end market. He said that higher rates but especially the lost wealth effect of stock investors is having a much bigger effect on the real estate markets in Washington state. Even the low end is finally being affected. That news and Costco's reported slowdown (my family shops there alot!) shows me that the economy is really slowing down. With the reported slowdown in the Silicon Valley real estate market reported just recently I wonder just how quickly things are cooling off. The problem is the feds numbers tend to be months late. Time will tell.
