Pre-production availability is expected as early as the third calendar quarter of 2000. This is from the PR on the MSM5000. Does anyone know what "pre-production availability" means? The MSM5000 is key to sustaining earnings growth into the fourth fiscal quarter. It is also key to pushing Nokia out of CDMA totally. While I'm on the subject of Nokia, I would expect that now that PNTR has passed the house, we'll see some official announcements of Chinese CDMA infrastructure deals with U.S. suppliers. This should be the last and most powerful dart into to Nokia. I would expect at least an announcement of a 3G licensing agreement from them to follow shortly thereafter.

I mentioned this on the 500 thread, and Ruff pointed out another.... notice in the release the following wording... "Fifteen Handset Manufacturers Worldwide Utilizing MSM5000 to be First-to-Market with New 3G Products and Services" and near the end, they give the list of... "Acer Peripherals, Inc., ALPS ELECTRIC CO., LTD.; CASIO COMPUTER CO., LTD.; DENSO CORPORATION; FUJITSU LIMITED; Hitachi, Ltd.; Hyundai Electronics Industries Co., Ltd.; KYOCERA CORPORATION; LG Information and Communications, Ltd.; Samsung Electronics Ltd.; SANYO Electric Co., Ltd.; and Toshiba Corporation, among others." count them, and you get 12 named, and "among others". That means there are 3 "among others" not listed... MOT and ERICY are conspicuous in their absence, plus maybe Neopoint or Sony? I'll bet a dollar to a donut that some of those "among others" are like that by request. DWB Q2.5K/Y2K+5
