Ken,

I'm with you in wanting to find an EOD system to trade our dream team (we've got a GREAT list of trading vehicles)...especially since my "dayjob" really requires a lot more attention than I've been giving it since trying out this experiment with hourly charts. It works to check once an hour, but when a signal is close, one ends up staring at the silly screen minute-by-minute, sweating every counter-tick.

But here is my suggestion: I checked out a variety of MA combos, and agree with you that the 8-10 works well on dailies. But nothing seems to match Stochastics crossovers, using the "trader's-5" period. With the right stocks (for lack of a better name, Wade-the-sham-Cook "rolling stocks"), Stoch. crossovers get you in and out well before MA's will. The problem is they will boot you out of the monster trades to chase a mini-rally, which usually fades, and hence loses money. But the advantage is that they exploit very well the 4 to 6 day moves that MA's tend to lose money on.

The best examples I've seen is SAWS over the last 2 months: 207.61.23.98

Check out BVSN as well.

If someone can backtest Stoch-5 crossovers on dailies, it would sure be appreciated.

TC

I also note that SAWS has not yet signalled long on Stoch., despite a strong upday, which says to me it will not go far (resistance is rather close)...whereas BVSN has signalled, and put in a very bullish candle (dangling spindle, or something like that), and looks poised for a nice upward rally...
