First off, based on my picks for the Masters, my perspective is less valid that most who post here! lol

Second, Phil appears to be just about the nicest guy on the tour, and from what the press says a first rate gentleman. I just wanted to clear up that I have nothing personal against him.

Third, Phil should play well as the short game is king at Pebble with those tiny greens. Phil's wedge is just amazing. I will never forget that shot at Valhara in 95(?). You remember the one where he hit it straight up in the air like 30-40 feet and it moved towards the hole like 3 yards and ran to the pin. Just AMAZING stuff. He also had the lead for that one, but couldn't hold it.

Fourth, I agree the driver is clicking, but I think what will keep him from winning will have nothing to do with ball striking.

In the big game Phil has just not played well on Sunday. I think he will win at least one more regular tour event this year, and maybe 2 or 3, but not the open. Top ten is very possible and maybe runner up, but I don't think he will win it this year.

As for the differences between West course and East I can offer no informed opinion.

I do think that once he wins one Open or Masters then many more will follow. Its just that first one is the block for him. I see some Norman in his Sunday play in the big ones.

I hope that I am wrong because I would love to see him win.

Keep swingin
