John, I was sitting next to a "New Age"
investor on a plane recently and the topic
of corporate bond rates came up as I
suggested that large spreads implied large risks.
He said he would never invest in corporate
bonds because they were too risky. I asked
him if he felt they were riskier than stock
in the same company and he replied "of course!"
