I am still looking for an entry point for MU puts. The China trade agreement is no more than a political movement. It may have a positive impact on the market short term.

Anyone: What's the view on box sales & semi's?

Yesterday's downgrade of Printers should be the tip of the iceberg.... and ATI's profit warning/loss (maybe company/product specific)...

ie lower complimentary goods, peripheral sales... indicate slower than expected box sales...anyone concur on this point?

yet , the semi's are enjoying record sales, semi's upgraded yesterday, INTC adding capacity (indicating they are LT bullish?), and Trisquint buying MU's fab plant ,

are semi's at the peak of their cycles ??? when will slower consumer spending hit these guys?? I imagine that lead times on chips is extensive and that semi's are the last to feel the slowdown in boxes (and cell phones)... what's the view?

there's still alot of fat on the semi's if so... any short candidates, and what metrics are good to look at on semi's (p/e's seem misleading... perhaps price to sales and % stock run ups are more indicative for short hunting.)

Lexmark (LXK) is dropping 6 1/4 to 66 1/2Analyst Andrew Neff of Bear Stearns downgraded the printer maker to an "attractive" from a "buy," citing a weak outlook for laser printers in the corporate market. Neff also believes revenue and margins could be negatively affected by lower-priced printers and a weak euro currency. Among others in Lexmark's space, Hewlett-Packard (HWP) is losing 3 13/16 to 116 7/8.

ATI Technologies' bleak forecast sparks selling (ATYT)
ATI Technologies (ATYT) is falling 7 1/8, or 42.5 percent, to 9 5/8. The Toronto, Canada, supplier of 3-D graphics products said it expects to report an operating loss of 6 cents to 7 cents a share in the third quarter, well below First Call's average estimate for earnings of 14 cents a share. The company attributed the shortfall to lower-than-expected revenues of roughly $300 million, a 1 percent decrease from last year, and a decline in gross margins in the latest three months to 21 percent from 33.2 percent in the second quarter.
