Hi Mark, Good to see you posting. My opinion about praying for things is that it is too easy to go overboard like a kid in a candy store. We become dissapointed when God does not answer our prayers in the way we expect.

The best way is too pray for the knowledge of his will for us and the power to carry that out. Then we have no misgivings or do we sin by being jealous of one who has more worldly things.

MArkus,

No, I am not saying that it is "preferable not to ask" for comforts. What I am saying is that if I am living within God's will then I can ask anything. I am saying that the Spirit helps me with such things, and I am also saying that sometimes the answer is no. Do I know that before I ask?

Paul asked God three times to remove whatever problem he had(2 Cor. 12:7-9). I wonder if God told him no the first time?

But,in asking for pleasures, how should I discern that?

You said earlier,

Surely God can understand the desire to provide for our families and secure their futures?

and I asked you this:

And what would this look like , Mark?? Example:

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Take, oh lets say the father of a Christian family in the Sudan, today.... how should he interpret that scripture, if he is asking the same question that you asked?

Can you answer this for me?

I await with (is it bated or baited) breath? :o)

dan
