In July of '99, that EV rally I mentioned? Stanford. There was a sizable GM presence there. A fleet of four EVs giving test rides. And in early '99 there was actually a GMEV doodad using our work campus! I saw several EV1s coming and going that day. As for taking up a collection... this is one instance where I'll let the market judge. I would love to have a low-energy-use vehicle. (My previous car was the Honda Civic VX, the car with the lightest footprint before or since.) (Exceppt the Insight, unless you crash it and spray nickel hydride all over. Toxic.)
