Hello Mani,

Re;You may have already answered this question before, but do you mind telling us what you do for a living?

Well, I work for an organization that uses a lot of computers, that needs lots of custom programming, that is filled with networking, that needs someone to solve all nature of computer problems (in general keep'em run'in), and that wants to keep up to date with their technology. We don't sell computers, we are strictly users of computer power.

Re: I assume these systems are for a company, what is the attitude of the users with regard to using an AMD based machine at work?

When our users see the Athlon systems, their response is universally the same: "I WANT ONE OF THOSE!!!" They absolutely love them. This is actually a dangerous situation for me (politically) as not everyone can get an Athlon at the same time. Some will have to put up with their slower Intel systems for a while longer.

Re: Do you encounter resistance from "the boss" for using AMD?

Are you kidding? The boss is no different than the rest of us, he wants a faster machine too.

I've stated this before, the Athlon is a very fast processor and Athlon stability/compatibility is excellent! Combined these attributes and this makes Athlon systems SMOOTH (tm-CrazyMan). I've built a few prototype machines for evaluation, we know what we can expect and have no surprises.

When I placed an Athlon 700 MHz based NT server on line about a month ago, my boss was overjoyed in terms of performance increase. He could see the difference immediately, it was not like I had to sell him on it, the Athlon's performance sold itself. BTW, That server has given us nothing but reliable service since going on line and I expect nothing but the same in the future. Not one hiccup. Not even one!!!

When I put an Athlon 700 MHz Win98 client machine on the boss's desk he was ready to turn the "keys to the universe" over to me! He loves it!

I don't get resistance for using AMD Athlon systems, I get encouragement from everyone who sees one and thanks from everyone who gets one. I'm just lucky I guess. Plus I get to have the fun of breathing life into each and every one of my new babies!!!

Have you had similar experiences?

Kindest regards,
CrazyMan
