There is no such thing as "free-markets". US market is probably the free-est there is barring some primitive or tribal areas where civilization does not exist and cannibalism is OK as part of the "free-market" or the "fittest-to-survive".

Leaving that apart, have you considered that some people have time horizons longer than a few days or weeks? And, that some people see this is a genuinely effective way to wring out the excesses in the market?

If you truly believe AMD is a good value here, don't you think you should thank Greenspan and add to your position or sell puts or do whatever you think is the right way to exploit the situation.
