I would not challenge anyone's right to their own religious habits, be they old or new. But as long as exclusivity and evangelism - the beliefs that only Christians are eligible for salvation and that it is the responsibility of Christians to convert non-Christians - remain fundamental tenets of the Christian faith, there will always be some element of anti-Christian backlash.
