I am very disappointed in the pre-market. . . gaps are closing. . .and our Early Bouncers are gapping DOWN. China stocks still strong, but not nearly as strong as last night.

Keep a close eye on the volume this AM and over the next few days. . .to indicate whether we continue or fail. . . .if we sell off again without being able to sustain a rally, then we will head back toward 2700 on COMPX in my opinion.

Then what is the format in Europe that I have been told is superior to CDMA?

Nokia and Ericsson have developed a competing standard called W-CDMA. My understanding is that it's not as good as CDMA. However, it is a continuing effort among these handset makers not have to pay the royalties for Qualcomm's CDMA. A good discussion on these standards can be found on the alternate QCOM thread. Subject 29581

That said, I sold all yesterday's big gainers into the opening strength ahead of the long weekend, Greenspan, and more #'s tomorrow.

Hi Rande !

In europe - at least germany, austria - Nokia is the leader in GSM, then follows Ericsson and Siemens. In austria we have a population of a little more then 7 million people, but about 2 1/2 mill. handies ! The new WAP (wireless application protocol) - handies are getting a lot of attraction in the press these days, but you need a WAP-gateway for the web-pages you can watch with a WAP-Handy, you don't see very much on the small display and so on. So I'm not sure if WAP really is the future of the wireless world.

The next generation after GMS will be UDMS with much better quality and the ability of higher data transfer rates than GSM (9600bd). In England they sold the license for UDSM after an auction for an unbelievable amount of money, in germany they are preparing the auction for this license.
