I have a general question for the thread. Particularly perhaps Pat may be able to answer this. BTW thanks for reporting on the annual meeting.
I do not have near the experience that some of you all do and have a question about SDLI's Raman pumps. Gilder-Pat's favorite tech guru (lol), in his recent letter mentions the upcoming bandwith abundance and the large role Raman amplifiers will play in the buildout. He spends much more time talking about ImG rather than SDLI-Where could one find out who has what market share? I thought SDLI was the inventor and leader in Raman pumps but Gilder would have one believe that IMG was the dominant company in this arena, Is this just more spin?
I must confess Pat that when you first started posting on the Gilder board I was a little skeptical, but with time you are converting me. Although Gilder may have a decent grasp of the big picture he does seem to have some ulterior motives. I did ask him on that board about SDLI,but he never responded-more concerned with responding to his detractors it would seem. If he truly believes in an all optical network why the heck has he not written about SDLI? OTOH who cares-SDLI will do just fine without him imho. Sorry for the long post-look forward to learning more from you, Kalicot (sp?) and others.

Regards, Trip
