AMD PRICE ACTION: Like everybody else long AMD I have been concerned about the precipitous decline in AMD share prices from the $90 vicinity. Of course a good chunk of this could be attributed to the MASSIVE selloff in tech stocks which has been entirely based on "crowd-fear" and not particularly related to individual stocks. Mr.Greenspan and friends have been the major instigators, but that is the job that they have, to drive the froth out of the market. I would say they have succeeded. AMD however, particularly today, has had an extra thrashing, although I see we have come back a lot since the $66 low. Why this price action? Is INTC immimently going to crush AMD? I don't think so. Is AMD unable to sell its products? Nope. Unable to produce? Not that we know. Pissing away its opportunity by getting unfocused? Not that we know. Losing its technological leadership? Hardly. Making a mistake by selling its comms chip division? Nah! About to lose the 64 bit upcoming war? Well who knows, but I doubt that also. So why the price decline? If you were a potentially BIG buyer of AMD, would you want to pay $90 a pop? Particularly if you wanted to show (for your fund) some nice gains by the end of the current quarter at end June. Wouldn't it be fairly cheap, all things considered, to: -- sow some nasty rumors into the market -- hire some professional shorts for a brief assignment If anybody thinks the action in the market is just the free flow of buyers and sellers always based on truth and reality, then I would suggest you should not be active in today's markets. I LOVE the prospects for AMD and just wish I could afford to buy more than the measly 1400 share position I presently hold. Best wishes, Jim
