OT Dennis: I love it when someone agrees with me-especially when that person is a Law professor and published author. :} You know that I travel quite a lot and mix with many cultures and Nationalities. I can tell you from my experience that most people care little for politics and have similar wants and needs. Your experiences in East Germany remind me of a dinner I had with 4 friends of mine,3 Austrian an American and me (a Mut). Anyway, over the wine we discovered that 2 of the Austrians had Fathers in WW 2. The American and I had family also in WW 2on the other side. It seemed incredible that our fathers we trying to kill each other and we were the best of friends. I think the truth is that, had our fathers and Grandfathers been able to travel to each others countries and communicate to each other on the www, they would have never gone to war. As the USSR found out once people have access to outside communication it becomes impossible to control them with lies. I have meet many Russians on my travels and partied with some and they love Americans. They didn't see where they had much choice against communism. If they opened their mouth they disappeared. It is probably the same in Cuba. This is why I think that the WTO/ China deal is soooo big. It ensures more cooperation, competition and communication. Change will come about naturally and at a pace the population can handle unlike Russia. In the big picture this is like the boost we got from the peace dividend all over once more. With China more of an ally our defense budget can be cut even more. Our companies, especially the multinationals, will have fabulous growth potential. UMMM May talk myself into buying some. Ray
