This is the core argument: Anyway, materialism means the belief that the universe is nothing but matter (including energy) in motion, in various successive configurations. First, if that is so, and we are nothing but body with brain matter, there is only a succession of events diffused throughout a system, and no central, comprehensive point of consciousness. Second, that sense of not only being conscious of events in front of us, but monitoring our own consciousness, would been totally unfounded, not only because the "I" does not exist as subject, but it does not exist as object, either. Third, as there cannot be a comprehensive "I" as spectator, so there cannot be one as actor, and therefore there cannot be true intent, only reactions. Fourth, although quantum mechanics leaves open the possibility of random behavior, that is not what we mean by free- will, or what we experience in making a choice. We mean that when options are not pre-determined by habit, we are capable of a true state of suspension, and when we cannot rationally conclude on the best course, that we a capable of an act of will resolving the issue, with knowledge of the stakes. Therefore, I infer that we live in a universe that is capable of harboring spiritual substances, and since these spiritual substances must originate somewhere as distinctive beings, I infer that God exists.......... Just read "souls" for spiritual substances....
