Your figures are accurate, US market cap is $17.06 trillion, according to most recent TrimTabs that I can access for free, May 15, 2000.

Total assets in money market mutual funds is $1.7 trillion for the week ending May 17, 2000, according to ICI.

I would include in "money on the sidelines" whatever cash the stock mutual funds are holding in reserve.
