I have expressed numerous times on this board that I am committed to return to Novell to assist in the incredible
"bounce" that is about to occur. I'm am working on that commitment

Hi Scott:

Let's hope that Novell is hiring a lot of people like yourself. Are you back or what?

Sweet Lemonade....

Scott:

Thanks for your thoughtful response.

>>Nope ... and from my new perspective I understand that there is no "dark energy" outside of ourselves ...>>

Dark energy simply refers to the power we all have to possess, control, refract, judge, restrict, etc. It's extremely hard to dissect. But it usually won't stand up to light and truth. Leave me out of this. Light and truth being just that - pure light energy which is illumintates, supports, gives, serves etc. Each of us can know and feel the difference in our gut.

Interesting article in the Chicago Sun Times today about Illinois Governor Jim Ryan's visit to South Africa to see Nelson Mandella where he became teary-eyed. He just visited Castro 1-2 months ago. He said...(pp. 1-2):

"Yes, I got teary. Who wouldn't. This man spent 27 years in prision trying to free his people."

"Castro was a dictator. Mandella was a liberator. When I met with Castro, he was strident and kept talking politics. Mandella talked in human terms. Castro was angry. Mandella was not. I couldn't help but think Castro had done to his people what apartheid had cone to Mandella."

> Is he shining light where there was once darkness?>

>>Yep ... completely ...>>

GREAT!!

> Is he breaking bread and dipping into the wine?>

>>Hmmm ... I'm not sure what this means ... if it means making amends for past behaviors, then absolutely. If it means getting off my butt and working to make a difference (instead of just talking about it) then absolutely!>>

GREAT!!

> Is he riding a white horse or dark horse?>

>>I can only say that you will make the choice that you want to make ... I realize that the colors of horses means nothing. ;-)>>

Come on Scott, I'd expect you to crack something back like, "No, Fred, I'm actually more comfortable riding a go-cart: it goes fast, is easily maneuverable, corners well and stays real low to the ground."

> Or is he just "hanging out.">

>Me!?!?!? Just hanging out!?!??!??>

Yes, come on....while drinking "Lemonade!" I think you've perfected this wonderful human virtual version of Switzerland. Beautiful scenery. Equisite environment. Efficient, lock and load-like discipline. I'm just goading you to create/share more energy.

>>No ... far from it ... I've learned what Allan Kay(?) meant when he said something like "The easiest way to predict the future is to create it!" As usual, I'm busy out creating the future ... and I think you're going to enjoy it!>>

I agree 10,000%. Every individual has the power to "create the future." We are all interconnected. Every positive action can have such a massive, massive positive radiating force. I think you are one of the few technologist I've run into who has a very intuitive grip on these things - ie. you can take the wind, fire, smoke and verbiage and still come up with gems to share with others.

>>I have expressed numerous times on this board that I am committed to return to Novell to assist in the incredible "bounce" that is about to occur. I'm am working on that commitment.

I also commit that I'll continue to actively participate in public forums ... something that I believe is essential to success of companies ...>>

FANTASTIC Scott!!

You have set an incredible example of "community" for all of us to learn from. I have learned from you. And we all have so much learning and growing ahead of us. If this New Novell can take on a more positive, forgiving and trusting attitude, then the sky is truly the limit.

You were THE first person inside Novell who had the guts 2-3 years ago to believe in this and stand up for your beliefs. Excuse the drama, but this is not too far from what those Russian writers had to go through behind the wall.

I, too, believe these public forums will be essential to the success of ALL companies/communities going forward. Companies/Communities that are more open will grow. Growth will correlate with common threads which more people will learn to evaluate: energy, trust, openness, etc.

> For then the two shall become....ONE.

>>If I were to follow the Buddist teachings then we are all already one and just don't realize it ... sounds a lot like what Joe Firmage was saying also ... and a lot of other people.>>

Amazing how guys like Firmage, Doc Searle and Edwards were bouncing around inside Novell at the same time. Novell seems to be a magnate for iconoclasts and wackiness - perhaps a requirement for great engineers.

Perhaps Novell has finally come full circle. Individuals like Mandella and Castro have choices. I'd like to think technology can serve us rather than the other way around. Personal responsibility, ownership and privacy is at the core of this debate.

I've been in this community for I really believe it is capable of massively changing the world. Right now, Novell is ground zero in this debate. And we have the potential to start from a very empowered clean slate.

Peace.

GO!!
