Looks like the split is being reserved for another day

I would not be too disappointed; this is not a great time to be announcing splits. KEM announced a split last week and is down 14 pts. Timing is everything and I think we will see in hindsight, the value of AMD waiting to do the split later.

Advanced Micro Shareholders Approve Boost in Authorized Shares

Sunnyvale, California, May 25 (Bloomberg) -- Advanced Micro Devices Inc., Intel Corp.'s chief rival in the market for computer processors, said shareholders approved an increase in shares outstanding, paving the way for a possible stock split.

Advanced Micro said shareholders voted in favor of the proposal to boost the shares allowed to 750 million from 250 million at a special meeting today.

The company's stock has more than doubled this year, making it the best performer on the Standard & Poor's 500 Index in 2000. No split has been unveiled, though the company has said the increase in authorized shares would give it the ability to split the stock in the form of a dividend. Advanced Micro last split its stock in 1983.

Sunnyvale, California-based Advanced Micro rose 2 to 74 11/16 in midafternoon trading today.
