I see there is some confusion here. I have known some people with significant mental disabilities, like IQ below 30. With your train of thought their ability to reason being less than someone with an IQ of 120 would also lead to them having less conscious awareness. First I am not sure that this is true. It is quite possible that their consciousness is otherwise focused and not less. I have no evidence of this, just wondering. I have also known some people with brain damage who functionally are IQ 30 but have an awareness of what they were prior to brain damage. The brain damage does not change the "who" that they know they are, even if they can no longer relate to their given name of Jimbob or Elrod or whatever.
