Goutama,

What's wrong with the DOW today?

Not a clue. It must be some off topic problem.

Goutama - RE: "For some reason, I would like to see Intel continuing with RAMBUS saga, and DELL continuing to be single CPU supplier dependant, just to see how it would pan out in the long term."

I, too, would like to see Intel stick to DRDRAM. That is the best case scenario for AMD. But I really don't think Intel management is stupid enough to force Willy to only use DRDRAM this year, especially after the CamiNo-Go fiasco. Whether it be DDR or MRH + SDRAM, I expect Willy not to be tied to DRDRAM this year.

As far as Dell, he has said many harsh things about AMD in the past. It would be major coup for AMD to win Dell, but with the Thunderbird delay (to June) and Willy's upcoming Q4 release, I think Dell has less reason to sign AMD. Dell will be first in line to get Willy, so they should have no supply problems, even if the rest of the market can't get it for some reason.

What's wrong with the DOW today? Going down fast and taking AMD down with it.

Goutama,

Unfortunately, I think its the selloff before the long weekend. I think it reaffirms how weak the markets are right now.

Goutama,

Update: according to CNBC, it turns out what caused the quick fall, was the announcement by a Merrill Lynch analyst that Goldman Sach's consensus EPS for its latest quarter was to high and should be closer to her estimate which was $.11 under the consensus. Simultaneously two other analysts reduced their est. by $.02.
