In this case "WE" does not include me. <<We want so much to believe that it is GOOD to be alive - that we end up constructing and handing on accommodating mythologies.>> I consider living to be a horrible struggle and responsibility. I do find joy along the way, but would not choose this life over any of the other options thought to be available, including the one you suggest. I have been given this existence and know that if I handle it well, it will have been worth my while.

If, as you say, the end of temporal existence is nothingness, then suicide would be a good choice for a lot of people who are living in misery.

Red herring: Something that draws away from the central issue.

I consider the purpose of my life central to my existence.

The rest is just bread and butter.
