Dave, I posted that because all over SI (and CNBC discussions as well) there is this raging debate on what's a bear market! We haven't had one in so long, everyone's fogotten! In any case, I know it has elements of these 4 things: 1) Magnitude of drop 2) Duration of drop 3) Psychology/Sentiment 4) Affects top 3 major (US) indexes However, I don't think we'll come to a concensus on these factors to always arrive at 1 clear definition for a bear market (or a bull one......for that matter). So the debate will probably rage on. You're right however, history will surely tell us. Steve
