Is it possible that both sides are right? MSFT abused their monopolistic position AND the DOJ is FOS and looking to increase their coffers?

My mother is probably suffering from a fit of apoplexy right now as this sounds suspiciously like a gray area where neither side is *right*, but it is my view of the situation.

Perhaps... then again, perhaps Gates should have adhered to what the judge had suggested in 97. Then he wouldn't be in this mess. I think Microsoft has only one company/person to blame... and they have no further to look than the mirror. They can deflect blame all they want but they did it to themselves. They were arrogant. They get what they deserve. Unfortuately it's bad for the entire industry and for that I'm doubly pissed at those weenies. Furthermore the old guard at Microsoft is leaving - leaving all the new folks there to fix the problem. In the meantime that organization is a mess... Morale is low, stock is down, people are working brutal hours. YuuuUUUK!
