Are you related to Joel Klein/TPJ or Mcnealy/larry ?

If Msft tried to make sure that their competitor didn't work then I wouldn't think wordperfect, lotus, orcl database products would work. It wouldn't have the largest suite of software compared with other OSes.

Alas, why does anybody bother to reply to you ? You basically post the same messages everyday.

GM, Ford, and Chrysler did exactly what you described for years. People loved the fins, the chrome and the sheer mass of big Detroit iron. Over the last 10-15 years they have gotten better but I can't remember the date of the antitrust trials of the big three. Wait a minute, there never were any antitrust trials of the big three. Let's see, they lost market share to the Japanese and the Germans because their products weren't made as well. Then the Big 3 figured they better improve their products to stay in business because all the trade tariffs weren't doing the job. It turns out people will abandon products from companies that aren't serving their needs if there is an inexpensive, full-featured, easy to use and convenient alternative. Companies that have that alternative gain market share, even if the dominant companies have the government stack the deck against them.

I guess most people feel their needs are being well served by microsoft, or there really isn't a good alternative to Wintel for the average consumer; or both, or Wintel would be losing market share.

Steve

OK so I'll buy into your theory. MSFT was inferior from day one. They pulled this inferior product scam off till they became the number one largest software company in existence EVER! And they helped a few other Corp. become almost as big in the process.

They fooled every customer that ever bought their products into thinking they were number one. They became so good at this falseness not even their competitor's combined could save the poor helpless masses from their greedy grasp.

Lucky for the masses there are guys like LarryE, SteveC, ScottM and the DOJ to get these horrendous salesmen our of our society. God only knows what they were getting ready to do to us.

I guess P.T. Barnum was correct there's a sucker born every minute.

P.S. I forgot to thank TPJ the biggest hero of them all! <g>

Off topic ...

... if GMC or Ford built a GREAT looking car with all kinds of luxo add-ons, but they ignored small, insignificant details like making sure the syncro-mesh was reliable for >100,000 miles and the engine maintained its compression for more than 5 years, just how well would this car sell???? Would YOU want one??? ...

If great looks was the most important consideration to the customer, the cars (Jaguar) would sell well enough. Same with Microsoft's stuff --- Customers (by the millions) value the outstanding qualities (Compatibility, functionality, price) of Microsoft products enough to enable this company to become the leading supplier of software to PC owners.

Cheers, PW.

I have, and use, Microsoft products. I've yet to find in any package(s) from Microsoft either crumbs or lice; hence, I cannot with any honesty call their products crummy or lousy.
