I wanted to echo those sentiments...even i am very new to covered call writing, I took some advice and sold some high price calls on SUNW while it was near 80 and then bought some puts as it started to head south again today...

i am lowering my average cost on the shares and enjoying the effects of this volality...

I also read this thread and contribute when I can. There are some excellent contributions made by many. Herm's are usually quite good since he posts some links for charts and data. I hope others are doing as well as we are. I am at just below a 100 percent return so far in 2000. Would have been more, but I covered my short positions last friday and went long. I still think I am right, just off a little on the timing.
As most know, I do some covered puts when I see the trend reversing to the downbside. And if a stock is channeling such as hdd and has low call premiums, I will trade in and out using my margin account. I don't like to get caught using too much margin in covered positions.
Yesterday, as I may have posted, was the first day of accumulation in the general market for quite some time. Today once again showed distribution. That being said, this is a good time for some covered calls and puts as I see the market treading water to somewhat down (which is the current trend). There are some good candidates out there and the coveredcalls site is an excellent sourc for calls. For puts, you have to do some homework on your own.
I am also somewhat bullish on gold and mining and oil. We will see if I am right and I am looking to open a position in pdg, but am waiting to get my price.
Good luck all and keep up all the great posts.

Hello MC,

I'm glad and delighted you have been able to beat the tough whipsaws and downright brutal meltdown of the internet stocks. Congrats! If the forum helped in some way, even better. We get new folks all the time and they benefit from others that have more experience on the frontlines.

Now, we need to tap you brain to learn more and make things better. We have some pretty savvy investors.
