You obviously did not understand the definition you gave us- I was trying to explain it to you. I will try again.

The
animating and vital principle in the human being, credited (credit is a synonym for
BELIEF- I put this in because I do not think you understand that Websters is not telling you the soul exists- they are saying it is the vital principle BELIEVED [by some people- obviously Websters doesn't mean to imply everyone believes in the soul, to animate the human being- not that it DOES animate the human being, but that SOME people BELIEVE it does- quite a difference there) to animate the human being)
with the faculties of thought,
action, and emotion and often conceived imagined- here I inserted the word imagined, because to conceive means [aside from to become pregnant], to form a conception of - IMAGINE, to aprehend by reason or IMAGINATION, to be of the OPINION of, to take into one's mind a PREJUDICE. To CONCEIVE is not necessarily to be correct. as an immaterial entity."

You used the dictionary definition as some sort of proof that souls exist. I am sure Websters did not anticipate your use of it in this manner, NOR do I think you read and interpreted the definition correctly.

Since you have incorrectly interpreted what I have said over and over again, my admiration for your comprehension skills is nil.

H-
Well, let me try to explain why I think it muddies the discussion. You have been using the term "soul" within the context of a religious argument. This would imply to anyone reading that you are using the theological definition of soul as a spiritual part of a human having the characteristics of immortality, separateness and the capability of a relationship with a higher being.
The first definition of the soul as an animating component of man, a principle of nature, has nothing to do with immortality or God, or the reality of the soul as you define it in the religious "Save the Soul" way.

Many people do NOT believe they have a soul in the spiritual sense, regardless of YOUR belief. ANd if you are going to say that you are up[set with X because she said she hates parts of your faith, and that your faith is about Saving your Soul in the Christian sense of immortality, then you can't just suddenly change the implied meaning - to that of the soul being the energizer bunny part of man, (a very old theory), without the religious, spiritual element or you gut its importance to you and one has to wonder why you are so angry at her.
