I recently build a new machine a PIII 733 with 256MB SDRAM for $1200 a few weeks ago.

Buy the OR840 bundle for $1000 and buy a 600 Mhz PIII for about $250 and make two systems: one 733 RDRAM and one 600 SDRAM. Donate the 600 MHz SDRAM hardware to a school or give it to the kids.

In 18 months, add a second 733 MHz chip to the OR840 for $300 and forget about upgrading your system for another 18 months. 3 years of hi end computing for $1800.
