Perhaps Fox used his touting of The Street.com as an excuse to do what they wanted to do anyway. However, by coincidence I happened to watch that show, one of only 2 or 3 times I have ever seen it. The guests were running through their usual list of picks, and when they got to Cramer he included The Street.com as being undervalued, having a lot of cash, etc. You could see the other guests cringe and become very uncomfortable. One of the guests commented afterwards that it was not appropriate. Whether front-running any of Cramer's picks works is something I doubt, since he is usually wrong. At least for the last year or so that has been the case. I do agree that the houses can get away with all sorts of things that smaller investors would be fried for.

Not exactly, although they do know which stocks he's going to talk about. It's not an exercise in front-running, it's purely touting and inventory clearance. If you call up and ask him for an opinion on a stock he doesn't cover, they tell you to go away.
