Microsoft writes IE for UNIX because contrary to your opinion, it wants to embrace the power of internet. It is the one which is moving away from proprietary protocols to internet standard protocols. If the WINE layer works perfectly, then why should Office software be ported to UNIX ? It should just run their, right ? For all you and I know, some future version of Office will run on all platforms regardless of the govt actions - if UNIX is what is used in the corporations' desktop.
