Fred.
I was reading about that last month. The Article was called "Friends,Family and Customers"
Qwest doing same thing with a company called Cosine,17 million in Securities for customers that generated 3.5 million revenue. In other words cosine spent 17 million to get 3.5 million in sales.
[One company (SBC)has strict rules that forbid employees to accept any sort of stipend from another company.]
The article said it's not a new game but the sizes of the distribution is.
The obvious fix is for the Sec to mandate more detailed disclosure of directed shares. The article said changes are on the way and even Williams Communications recently announced a new conflict of interest policy where a employee can no longer accept remuneration for serving as an advisor or director for any customer or potential customer. The change does not affect previously made arrangements-including Bross.

"ONI is far from profitable. Last year, the company reported a loss of $43 million on $3 million in sales. In 1998, ONI reported a loss of $8.8 million on $1.7 million in revenue

The more I look into this the more it is absurb to me, the multiples awarded in the mkt. is what is killing it, these multiples must be adjusted.... someone has to step up to the plate in the real near future and address these issues, I do like these optical fibre sectors, but they are fully valued at the IPO price for 3 years forward earnings. Even after what we have recently seen as of late, Greed prevails.... but hopefully lessons have been learned.
