My father has finally started telling me stuff. Jeez. It's the coolest. Never would imagine.

I hope you're keeping some notes on this stuff. Seriously...

Lately, I've been feeling a little annoyed about the fact that nobody in any of our families seemed to have the presence of mind to record a lot of the stories which my grandparents told about their families. I only happen to know a lot about my dad's father's life because he lived to be 98 and I had many good conversations with him. The same is true of my mom's mother as I spent many of my summers with her until she died when I was 12. However, there is a lot of "empty space" which could have been filled in if someone had taken the time to take a few notes.

I think there might be something to be said for "epic sagas".... Perhaps every family needs its own bard....
