Jozef: It is relevant to the issue of whether gamers and fanatics will boycott a product. But, it is simply not relevant to the merits of the technology. Like them or not, Newton invented (co-invented) calculus and Werner von Braun invented rockets. One can bury one's head in the sand and say we do or do not like the creators of a product, but it really has no bearing on the analysis of the product. By the way, the gamers will come around. The ones that don't will be displaced by a new generation of faster RDRAM gamers (once RDRAM becomes widely available on the spot market).
