I actually think that art is not necessarily good for you, although it is rarely bad either. Rather, it puts before you objects of admiration, sometimes pleasurable, sometimes painful, sometimes informative or insightful, sometimes merely skillful or ingenious. Admiration for the works of civilization, is however, a good in itself, both by drawings one's attention to what can be achieved, and by giving one a greater stake in the civilization........
