There are alternate means. The 10K RPM is an option, not standard.

So, there's a shortage. Buyers have several options (a) purchase alternate means, (b) wait, (c) pay spot market prices if they want it that bad

It must not be to the point that Dell has admitted problems. They addressed this issue during their last conference call and said supplies were adequate. So, who do you believe, IBM or Dell? Dell says they're not experiencing a problem. It doesn't matter if 50 DLJ analysts claim there's a problem. If Dell says there is not a problem, what do you do, sleep with DLJ or with Dell?

DLJ is short the market anyway I bet. They don't give a frick or Fleck about shortages.

I suspect that Dell is not experiencing a problem as buyers are choosing alternate means with "upgrade" when it comes available. If you need your system, you need it, you don't wait when alternate means are available.
