impristine, I agree ... but don't underestimate the effect of the destruction of wealth that this process is currently having ... from the traders/investors .. to the employees, to the service companies they gave shares to as payment, to the venture capitalists ... to the investment profits the major corps (Dell, Chase, IBM, Intel et al) realise to maintain their rosy earnings picture. The later will have to dump more & more shares to realise the X number of $ needed to shore up their figures.

Another problem I have with the bull scenario is that now we are in a downtrend, the catalysts needed to spark a rally aren't there. Going up, any positive news would cause short covering and the momentum traders would join in ... then the bigger boys. In a downtrend, shorts don't cover ... if they do, traders aren't supporting any covering upticks that happen ...and as for the big boys ... they're smart enough not to lead a trend (at least with their money).

Caveat emptor !!
