WoW! They 'may' increase prices a dime. Here's a news flash: IF they make 30 cents this Q (a big IF), they will need to increase their per unit gross margins about 85 cents to make analysts' current estimates for next Q.

He expects DRAM demand to double this year, with supply growing just 60 percent to 70 percent. Hmmm. According to Dataquest, worldwide PC shipments grew 15% (Y/Y) in Q1. They grew 20% in 1999. If you assume we get 30% growth in avg bits/PC, we're looking at about 50-55% total bit growth from PCs.

Growth in avg bits/PC will be pressured by cost concerns and fear of the coming 'shortage'. Growth in PC units will continue to be constrained by CPUs and motherboards.
