11:30am EDT 25-May-00 Corporate Release VIACOM TO PURCHASE UP TO $1 BILLION IN VIACOM STOCK NEW YORK--May 25, 2000--Viacom Inc. (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B) announced today a purchase program to acquire Viacom stock. The program, which will begin immediately, would involve the purchase from time to time of up to $1 billion in Viacom stock. Viacom completed its most recent market purchase program at the end of April. Viacom Inc., which completed its merger with CBS Corporation on May 4, is one of the world's largest entertainment and media companies, and a leader in the production, promotion, and distribution of entertainment, news, sports, and music.
