I agree 100%. However loads of vendors in the help/support desk environment. Sales software may be a different beast. Repair centers are very complex and difficult to write apps for (i.e. doesn't lend itself well to the 'small' environment) and field service modules have been around for ages (the first CRM solutions that were developed in the mid 70's early 80's).

So 'yes', I agree the mid/low range market is still wide open however not very desirable. With tons of vendors going after it, small margins but still having many of the same headaches (support, sales etc..) that the top tier vendors face (i.e. many of the same expenses). In short.. not a real great space to be in .. yet.. yes.. still 'wide open'. I like Siebel's target market much better.
