Hi Ox..being short against the box can come in handy as
you can sell the long side in a flash and not get caught
in the downtick rule..with the qqq there is no downtick
rule but holding a short and just buying and selling,
Speeds UP trades..they don't have to find the shares
or OK the deal..
Any more I stay with a short bet and instead of buying to
cover I just buy & or sell..damm the finding the shares
all the time. ( also in some cases in the past I couldn't
get shares to short )..staying short eliminates that
problem, so far my broker hasn't kicked on it..but I
think they could if they wanted to.
Jim

PS when you want to go long you just buy twice as many
as you are short.

PS2 I don't play options on the QQQ.. I did once but only
because I knew she was going to fall and could not get
the shares to short. The floor trades screw you on qqq
options by skewing them a lot..if I did play qqq options
they would all be in the money..( both ways) as it's harder
for them to skew ITM options as much.
