A friend of mine runs a small company. When I talked to him last night, he said they were postponing their ipo, from Fall 2000 to late 2001 or beyond. Why? "Concept ipo's" are out of fashion. "Revenue ipo's" are now the requirement. I guess with a Revenue ipo, you still do not need profits, but at least you need revenues. ;)

Problem is: to prepare for the ipo, he assumed lots of new expenses - legal fees, new quarters for new employees, etc. They were slightly profitable pre-pre ipo. Now at the current burn rate, they have about 8-12 months to find additional financing.

And I think investing is stressful!

>> Does anyone know how much money Dr. Koop made on his portal?

As I remember, it wasn't much. And I don't think he was in it for the money. I think he got stock, which he probably did not get a chance to sell.
