<<Anybody out there can tell me how to build a fieldstone patio? 12 ft x 16 ft. space, got two (2) big pallets of stones. Helpful advice appreciated ~ >>

Sounds like oomph aw, oomph aw. Not hard work but fucking hard work.

Ok, you want to know. Dig the dirt at least 10" deep and put in crushed rock. Use a vibrator to really level and compact it. Lay a weed barrier and set the stones. Put down a preherbicide.. Fill between the stones.

Charley Mike,
I know Ish gave you some "do it yourself" hints on your patio but, I say hire some "illegals". I don't know what part of Texas you are from but, we can't use the term "wet backs" any more. Not politically correct, ya know. ~H~

Re: fieldstone patio. I don't know how, but I can tell you that the libraries have some good books on stoneworking, at least ours do. Lots of what the French chefs call trucs, tricks of the trade that it would take you a lifetime to figure out on your own, if you ever did, and you probably wouldn't. A lot of the ones our libraries carry are written by guys in Virginia and North Carolina, not sure if it's just giving the local guys a chance, or whether it's just that a lot of stone work is done here, I think the latter.
