Vince, doesn't it make sense that America, the beacon of freedom the world over and the worlds only superpower be allowed to share some of that light with a father and son? Especially, since the sons mother gave her life for the chance that her son be raised in freedom?

Castro has already killed his mother, shall we also be the instrument upon which her son loses his mind through communist brainwashing techniques?

Elians mother would be alive today if Castro didn't force and shoot Cubans who wanted to leave the island. Imagine that, actually shooting and killing people for wanting to travel off an island. How hideous that people would support that kind of monster and defend him here on SI as equal to America with her rich history of being the light of freedom the world over.

I wonder what goes through their mind as they look out over the Atlantic ocean during the warm breezy nights in Cuba? Or when they serve the tourists who come and visit. Are they allowed to speak to them? Can they ask them questions? Or does fear so pervade their culture, because of Castro, just talking with foreigners could land you and your family in jail?

Admire the tyrant Castro all you want. One day the island will be free and the world will hear the stories of genocide inflicted by him in order to maintain his grip of power over the people of Cuba for so long.

For Elian and his fathers sake, along with the thousands of Cubans risking their life planning and executing a secret departure. I hope it will be very soon, so they can stay and build a free Cuba. A Cuba where young mothers with children won't ever feel the need to risk their life on small boards across the vastness of the Atlantic ocean for a chance at freedom.
