tipperd2: Respectfully disagree that this particular post by Ruffian is an "excellent post" and would suggest that it is particularly dangerous for "those who do not follow the New Qualcomm thread".

For those of you who do not follow the New Qualcomm thread, an excellent post regarding the Q's prospects in China courtesy Ruffian.

Cheers, Trip@wifeandkidsoutoftownandcan'tsleep.org"

Ruffian posts articles ranging from "right on" to "right off". I suggest this is the latter. (His clips of articles are agnostic, his views are his own, and positive re the Q)

For those of us who do follow CDMA and Qualcomm as closely as we can, this article is easily recognizable as feed from GSM and anti Qualcomm sources. Sadly that happens.

Since sleeping at night is probably the most important part of investing, this sort of article is hazardous to that and needlessly so IMO. But of course others may differ. We will see.

Rather than repeat lots of stuff, let me just suggest that those would worry about this type of article which seems so comprehensive and "objective" compare it to the stream of posts on any of the Qualcomm threads where all sides and all opinions are expressed.

But perhaps the best single post on this I have seen recently is that by Uncle Frank which I cited earlier.

I gave the link in #25421 here, but it is probably so important that the full text should be here, so see it in full:

Best.

What the Chinese have failed to recognize is Dr. J's patience and ability to negotiate.

In the short time I've been involved with qcom, he's stared down Ericsson, Motorola, Philips, Intel, and DDI, and each time he got his way. I believe he will teach the Chinese that the only way to get state of the art wireless technology and a proven path to 3G is to pay his price.

I've gone back and reviewed Dr. J's claims over the past 18 months, and he's batting 1000. Think I'll leave my bet on the table.
