<Of course, all this knowledge managed to lose me a ton of money shorting too early>

The truth comes out. Finally.

<People have been living beyond their means and are stuck with house payments on property that has been chopped in
HALF because of the collapse in real estate.>

You've taken your hyperbole too far. Please provide one single example of this in the Valley.

>But now, I've taken up short positions in 5 or 6 core favorites and I sleep at night knowing these scams are eventually going to zero.
Kis, would you be kind enough to share with us what those 5 or 6 favorites are?
Btw
Why didn't you start a .com 3 or 4 years ago? There is no question in why mind that history will record some 15% of the current lot will be extremely successful (profitable).

You can short REITs which have exposure to properties in
the Bay Area. I think SPK , BRE etc are some of them. Sure
the real estate here is slowing down but I would hardly
expect a 70 % decline in 12 months.

if I hadn't jumped on the mania bandwagon a few times i would have lost my shirt. But now, I've taken up short positions in 5 or 6 core favorites and I sleep at night knowing these scams are eventually going to zero.

When this stock was at $55 I wrote that still was a good short. At yesterday's price, I would cover 20% of the short and hang on to the other 80%.

I don't know about going to zero, but I expect to see AMZN @ $20 before year's end.

YMMV.

Did your 10 IPO insider friends sell most of their stake , or are they stilll holding...?

I am very interested in hearing the various approaches they took in selling...

Sellling a one day one of lockup? ("im out!!!! wooohoo!! too good to be true!)

Selling at the bottom of the NAZ crash ? ("Shit im gonna lose it ALL,,,,aaaaaaagh")

not having sold a single share yet? ("i'm waiting for $400 a share, we have a good company"

Feel free to elaborate.
Very interesting

What are your 7 "to zero" shorts?

I like the content providers, like TGLO.
They are hobbies, not companies.

The sad part is, when the congressional hearings begin, and TRUST ME THEY WILL BEGIN, people are going to be forced to finally accept that they were greedy fools. When a government official finally says "Yes, this was a giant scam" then people will no longer be able to rationalize away their own folly. They'll no longer have the comfort of denial. And once denial is gone, there's not much left. In the end, denial is all there ever really was.

cheers
