Solicitor General is 3rd in command in the DoJ, the post was most famously held by Robert Bork in the Watergate yesrs, who ended up executing the "Saturday Night Massacre" after Richardson and Ruckelshaus resigned.

Aside from the fact that rudedog brought up the position. Maybe all you guys with your extensive legal education from Microsoft PR should get together on the "facts" sometime.

Cheers, Dan.

Steve - if you dig into the law that allows the courts to escalate directly to the Supreme Court in certain anti-trust cases, you will discover that the provision requires a recommendation to take that action from the solicitor general.

The solicitor general is usually busy doing "friend of the court" briefs to the Supreme Court representing administration positions on cases before the court.
