So the choice C-Unicom is faced with is whether to install a 2G QCOM cdma system for which there is a clear migration path, or wait to install a 3G W-CDMA system when it becomes available? But in any event they have to scrap their existing 2G GSM equipment (as well as any extension of the same)? Then why does the advent of 3G technology pose such an impediment to the deployment of QCOM's 2G CDMA, while GSM continues to grow like a weed? Why are we hearing that CU's investment bankers are encouraging CU to abandon cdma in favor of expanding the existing GSM network, citing 3G obsolescence concerns?

Help me JohnG. I'm dazed and confused.

Great site reference. Maybe someone should send the URL to Unicom and AWE.

What would be really nice would be for MCI to start on a wireless buying spree in Europe.
