I do not believe in male circumcision either. Your point is?

Female genital mutilation is sometimes referred to as female circumcision. However, only the least extreme of the forms of female genital mutilation traditionally practiced could properly be called circumcision. In this procedure, sometimes referred to as the "sunna", the prepuce and/or tip of the clitoris is removed. I do not use the term female circumcision for this practice because that would be misleading and it often causes people to misunderstand the true horror and serious health consequences of this practice.

>>Do you think male circumcision is safe?<<

The Jews in Israel think so, and they have a longer life expectency than we do here in America. Lower infant mortality, also.

I do NOT think male circumcision is without risk- and I did not have it done to MY son. If others wish to do this to their children for religious reasons I do not feel it is my right to stop them. But I consider it abusive- ESPECIALLY if pain killers are not used.

The American Academy of Pediatrics no longer recommends circumcision for health reasons, as they were wont to in the past.

Circumcision deadens the head of the penis to sensation- some men try to reverse their circumcisions in order to get more sensitive penises. Interesting- isn't it? I don't think it's a good idea to screw around (pun intended) with your sexual equipment unless you have a VERY good reason.

edit- I don't think it is a good idea to have ANY unnecessary surgery. I was a child when it was all the rage to rip out adenoids and tonsils. I am VERY angry those were taken out of me- since they have been found to be important in immunity. My immune system sucks- and I wish I had my tonsils and adenoids BACK. I am VERY leery of most medical procedures- that are suggested for HEALTH reasons, I do a lot of research- and I would NEVER, EVER do something to my children for a mere belief system. Now that's just my opinion- I can't stop people from practicing their religions- but I can sure as HELL speak out about it and give MY opinion.
