thecow, thank you for prompting me to read the readme! My rescue disk does not freeze during the making. It freezes [?] when trying to boot from it. I found the following in the readme...

>Running Rescue Disk Recovery
============================
Rescue Disk recovery must be run from DOS. Norton SystemWorks does not support running Rescue Disk recovery from a DOS window inside Windows.

I don't understand this. Suppose my PC won't boot from the HD. I shut down, insert the rescue boot disk and power up. It should then boot into DOS. But it doesn't.

Since this happened on TWO computers, I think Norton left something out. Could anyone else, please, try their Norton rescue boot disk and report what happened?
